Are we surprised? Somehow I thought that maybe justice would be served here. In my mind, there is no possible way to justify in shooting an UNARMED man 50 times. A mistake, an error in judgement -- perhaps but JUSTIFIED? Never. However somehow the judge in the case felt that the cops did have justification to act as they did that night.

This is so sad. A mother and father lost their son, a wife lost her fiancee, and two little girls lost their father. An innocent man out to celebrate his wedding the next day with a bacheor party is gunned down and in this country that is a justified act. Par for the course I suppose... Who polices the police?

Three detectives were acquitted of all charges Friday in the 50-shot
killing of an unarmed groom-to-be on his wedding day, a case that put
the New York Police Department at the center of another dispute
involving allegations of excessive firepower.

Justice Arthur Cooperman delivered the verdict in a Queens courtroom
packed with spectators, including victim Sean Bell's fiancee and
parents, as at least 200 people gathered outside the building.

As word of the verdict spread, many outside the courthouse began
crying and yelled "No!" Some briefly jostled with police officers.
